So Sure
02:12
|

I'm too young to think about you.
Late at night is when I'd swear by you.
First I'd rise like a note then
I'd fall beneath your fingers.
You could be so sure.
Never follow through at all.
I'm too young to think about you.
Late at night is when I'd swear by you.
First I'd rise,
next I'd rise.

Hotel

Hotel in early March.
Sun beat us out into the streets.
I think about the night I had.
How I had nothing good to say.
I just start down the road
of knowing that these feelings shouldn't matter.
That's when I feel the most.
This isolation, somehow it's all a choice.
You could be here.
You could see me more.
Arrangement of my thoughts.
The order of events in my head.
Good friends they never fought.
One was enamored while one was miles away.
I wanted to have words of wisdom,
but we're just too different.
And it wouldn't make much sense.
It's destructive.
I can be so destructive.

Sun Finds You
03:11
|

When the view hits on the walk home,
you'll wish someone was there
to explain what it all means.
The city wells up in water.
Wipe your face with your arm, kid,
you've got it all wrong.
This is right.
You're walking west until the sun finds you.
It's a shame that there's no one here.
Well, there's people,
but they don't know your name.
And you don't know why they came here,
but you don't know why you did either.

Counterpoint
03:37
|
|||
Wake up, fifty-five degrees.
The city's waiting for you.
Time to put that hoodie on,
and slip out into the streets.
Don't measure up the miles,
let your legs just feel it out.
You'll pick an old one,
you'll pick a favorite record.
And you'll see strangers singing out the words.
On every weekday I find the arguments.
And every weekend is like the counterpoint.
On every block there's someone waiting to tell you,
"You could belong if you wanted to.
If you were listening."
Lay down, think about the ways
you've been intimidated.
And even with this self-awareness
you're still waiting to see
if things will come to you.
Patience can be criminal.
You'll pick a new one,
you'll pick a tawdry novel.
Warm lamp is burning late into the night.
On every weekday I find the arguments
can wear me down.
Weekends are no escape.
On every page the subtlety is lost,
but still you read on.
If you wanted to...

Rentals & Rainstorms
02:20

You'll stay up all night.
I'm so late, one night on the books.
Sits one glass on the table,
a hand on your face.
If there's one thing we share
I'm in your state.
On this train all night.
And so many miles pass me by.
"I've been thinking about you,"
is something they say.
But it's gone far beyond that.
I am yours.
Something I know.
Something I've known.
I'll see you when I see you.
And I'll kiss your smile.
And I'll wipe your eyes.
And I'll know you.
"You are a light in the darkness,"
is something they say.
But we'll share light and dark,
and I am yours.
I am yours.
